Provide remote support to your customers
Similar to ad hoc support, remote support provides one-time access to remote computers.
Remember: An available GoTo Resolve Remote Support license is required to use this feature.
Central uses the remote support feature of GoTo Resolve, which is our newest IT management and support product. To make sure that users of your account can start remote support sessions, you must do the following:
- Since this feature uses the capabilities of another product, you should first purchase GoTo Resolve Remote Support licenses for each of your users who will support end users.
- In Central, add a Remote support permission to the relevant users.
What is the difference between ad hoc support and remote support in Central?
Central also offers ad hoc support for your users, which has the following advantages and disadvantages:
- The number of concurrent/active ad hoc support sessions is limited to one per user and five per account. There is no such limitation for remote support.
- You can only start an ad hoc support session by sending an email to the end user. With remote support, you can also send a direct link to the end user in a messaging application.
- The end user must have admin rights on the remote computer to install the ad hoc support software. Remote support has no such limitation.
- Remote support requires an additional license.
