Allow Client-Side Drives to Connect to the Host (Host Preferences)
Allow the client-side user to connect client-side drives to the host.
Host Preference Packages can only be applied to Windows hosts.
Who can use this feature? The Host Preference Packages feature is available to any Account Holder of a LogMeIn Central Base account. For those Account Holders who have not switched over to a Base plan yet, a LogMeIn Central Premier or Plus subscription is required. Users of such accounts also need the Configuration Management permission.
- Create a Host Preference Package, as follows:
- In LogMeIn Central, go to the page.
- Click Add Package.
Result: The New Host Preference Package page is displayed.
- Name your new Host Preference Package.
- Click Save.
- Under Category, select Remote Control.
- Under Connecting Drives you have the following options:
Option Description Enable connecting drives Allow the client-side user to connect client-side drives to the host. Important: To make the actual connection between host and client during the remote control session, click on the Remote Control toolbar.Preferred drive letter on host for connected client drives Choose the letter to be used on the host to signify drives connected from the client. If the chosen letter is unavailable, the next free letter will be used. Allow client-side hard drives to connect to the host Allow any hard drive on the client to connect to the host. Allow client-side removable drives to connect to the host Allow any removable drive connected to the client (such as a pen drive, digital camera, mp3 player, etc.) to be connected to the host. Allow client-side network drives to connect to the host Allow any network drive connected to the client to be connected to the host. Directory format of client-side drives connected to the host Description first: winxp32(C). Drive letter first: (C)winxp32. Write-protect connected drives Prevent client-side users from altering files on the host during remote control. All host files will be read-only to the remote user. - Continue to add settings to the Host Preference Package. When ready, click Finish and Save.
- Assign the Host Preference Package to computers or groups, as follows:
- In LogMeIn Central, go to the page.
- Click Edit or Click here to assign next to the Host Preference Package you want to assign.
- Choose computers and groups using the left and right arrows.
- Click Save.
