What's a profile? How do I change my profile?

A profile is used to switch between computers in different accounts.

It's easiest to illustrate the concept with an example. Assume that you want to invite one of your colleagues to access computers in your account. Your colleague already has an account. Once he accepts your invitation and logs in, your colleague will see multiple profiles in the drop-down box in the upper-right of the LogMeIn.com website interface. Your colleague is not prompted to create a new password. He uses his own (existing) account password.

He now has two profile types:

  • His original profile (for his own account), called Account Holder of [his own "Company Name" as saved on the Billing page]
  • His profile for your account, called User of [your "Company Name" as saved on the Billing page].

How do I switch between profiles?

  1. Go to www.LogMeIn.com.
  2. Log in to your account using your LogMeIn ID (email address) and password. The Home page is displayed.
  3. At the top of the page, click your LogMeIn ID (email address).
  4. Choose a profile.
Remember: You only see multiple profiles when you have been granted access to computers in another account!

What is the difference between an account and a subscription?

When you register your email address at LogMeIn.com, you create an account. Your email and password together make up your LogMeIn ID, which you use to log in at LogMeIn.com. Your LogMeIn ID is not valid for a host.

To use certain services, you will be required to purchase a subscription. A subscription can expire. An account does not expire.
