Define Syslog Settings for the Host (Host Preferences)
Define whether the host should send logs to a Syslog server to monitor events.
Host Preference Packages can only be applied to Windows hosts.
Who can use this feature? The Host Preference Packages feature is available to any Account Holder of a LogMeIn Central Base account. For those Account Holders who have not switched over to a Base plan yet, a LogMeIn Central Premier or Plus subscription is required. Users of such accounts also need the Configuration Management permission.
- Create a Host Preference Package, as follows:
- In LogMeIn Central, go to the page.
- Click Add Package.
Result: The New Host Preference Package page is displayed.
- Name your new Host Preference Package.
- Click Save.
- Under Category, select Log Settings.
- Under Syslog Settings you have the following options:
Option Description Send log events to a Syslog server Enables sending logs to a Syslog server. Syslog hostname or IP address Hostname or IP of your Syslog server. Transport protocol Select UDP or TCP protocol to forward logs. Syslog UDP port number Port number for UDP connection. Syslog TCP port number Port number for TCP connection. Facility code to report Select the facility from the drop-down list that represents the process that creates Syslog events. - Continue to add settings to the Host Preference Package. When ready, click Finish and Save.
- Assign the Host Preference Package to computers or groups, as follows:
- In LogMeIn Central, go to the page.
- Click Edit or Click here to assign next to the Host Preference Package you want to assign.
- Choose computers and groups using the left and right arrows.
- Click Save.
