Why does the LastPass Authenticator require a PIN Code instead of a Pattern?

Users who previously set up a pattern for the LastPass MFA app (no longer supported) are prompted to create a PIN Code as part of the migration process to the LastPass Authenticator app, which replaces the Pattern authentication method.

The PIN Code is used as a backup authentication method if the biometric sensor (facial recognition or fingerprint identification) is not working on your mobile device.

Additionally, the PIN Code is deemed more secure as an industry standard and is also already being utilized in both the LastPass Password Manager and LastPass Authenticator apps.
