How do I set up mobile account recovery on iOS for LastPass?

When using the LastPass Password Manager app for iOS, you can set up and use Face ID or Touch ID for account recovery in case your Master Password is ever forgotten.

Note: You must log in to the LastPass Password Manager mobile app with your username and Master Password before you can set up account recovery using biometrics.

Set up Face ID for LastPass

Before you begin: Please be sure you have done the following before proceeding:
  1. Set up Face ID on your iOS device
  2. Download the LastPass Password Manager app for iOS
To set up Face ID on the LastPass Password Manager app for iOS, do the following:
  1. Open the LastPass Password Manager app on your iOS device.
  2. Enter your username and Master Password.
  3. Tap Log In.
  4. Choose from the following options:
    If this: Then do this:
    You're logging in for the first time
    1. When prompted, toggle on the switch for Use Face ID.
    2. Select OK to allow Face ID for LastPass.
    3. Glance at your device while holding in portrait orientation.
    4. Toggle on the switch for Use Face ID for account recovery.
    5. Glance at your device while holding in portrait orientation.
    You skipped enabling Face ID previously, and want to enable it now
    1. Log in to the LastPass Password Manager app for iOS with your username and Master Password.
    2. Select Settings > Security.
    3. Toggle on the switch for Use Face ID.
    4. Select OK to allow Face ID for LastPass.
    5. Glance at your device while holding in portrait orientation.
    6. Toggle on the switch for Account Recovery.
    7. Glance at your device while holding in portrait orientation.

    Result: You have now enabled Face ID for account recovery for the LastPass Password Manager app for iOS.

Set up Touch ID in LastPass

Before you begin: Please be sure you have done the following before proceeding:
  1. Set up Touch ID for your iOS device
  2. Download the LastPass Password Manager app for iOS
To set up Touch ID on the LastPass Password Manager app for iOS, do the following:
  1. Open the LastPass Password Manager app on your iOS device.
  2. Enter your username and Master Password.
  3. Tap Log In.
  4. Choose from the following options:
    If this: Then do this:
    You're logging in for the first time
    1. When prompted, toggle on the switch for Use Touch ID.
    2. Select OK to allow Touch ID for LastPass.
    3. Touch the Home button lightly (don't press) to scan your fingerprint.
    4. Toggle on the switch for Use Touch ID for account recovery.
    5. Touch the Home button lightly (don't press) to scan your fingerprint.
    You skipped enabling Touch ID previously, and want to enable it now
    1. Select Settings > Security.
    2. Toggle on the switch for Use Touch ID.
    3. Select OK to allow Touch ID for LastPass.
    4. Touch the Home button lightly (don't press) to scan your fingerprint.
    5. Toggle on the switch for Account Recovery.
    6. Touch the Home button lightly (don't press) to scan your fingerprint.

    Result: You have now enabled Touch ID for account recovery for the LastPass Password Manager app for iOS.
