How do I clear the local cache for my LastPass Vault?

Clearing the LastPass Local Cache can serve as a troubleshooting step if you encounter issues loading your Vault. By clearing your local cache, you are deleting the local stored copy of your encrypted data. To recreate the local cache, log out of LastPass then log back in while an Internet connection is present.

Once your local cache has been cleared, it is highly recommended that you log back in immediately to recreate these files, which includes restoring access to your Recovery One Time Password.

Using the LastPass web browser extension

  1. While logged in to LastPass, click the active LastPass icon in your toolbar, then do one of the following (based on your navigational experience):
    • Go to More OptionsAdvancedClear Local Cache to force a sync of your Vault data.
    • Go to Account Options > AdvancedClear Local Cache to force a sync of your Vault data.
  2. Once cleared, log out and log back in to recreate the local cache.

Using the LastPass app for iOS

  1. While logged in to the app, tap Settings in the bottom toolbar.
  2. Tap SecurityClear LastPass Cache.
  3. Once cleared, log out and log back in to the app recreate the local cache.

Using the LastPass app for Android

  1. While logged in to the app, select the Vault Options icon in the upper left navigation.
  2. Go to SettingsActionsClear LastPass cache.
  3. Once cleared, log out and log back in to the app recreate the local cache.

Using the LastPass Mac App

  1. While logged in, click on the LastPass Mac app.
  2. In the Menu bar, go to GoSettings.
  3. A new web browser window or tab will open. If prompted, log in to your LastPass account.
  4. On the web browser, go to Account OptionsAdvanced > Clear Local Cache.
  5. Once cleared, log out (on the website) and log back in to recreate the local cache.

Using LastPass for Applications on Windows

  1. Click the LastPass icon in your system tray.
  2. Go to ToolsClear Local Cache.
  3. Once cleared, log out and log back in to the app recreate the local cache.

Using the Active Directory Connector

  1. While logged in to the app, click Debug in the left navigation.
  2. Click Clear local cache.
  3. Once cleared, log out and log back in to the app to recreate the local cache.
