How do I clear the local cache for my LastPass Vault?

Clearing the LastPass Local Cache can serve as a troubleshooting step if you encounter issues loading your Vault. By clearing your local cache, you are deleting the local stored copy of your encrypted data. To recreate the local cache, log out of LastPass then log back in while an Internet connection is present.

The steps will vary for clearing your local cache for LastPass (depending on how you use LastPass), as follows:

  1. While logged in to LastPass, click the active LastPass icon LastPass in your web browser toolbar.
  2. Go to Account Options or select your email address and select Advanced > Clear Local Cache.
LastPass for Safari app extension
  1. While logged in to LastPass, click the active LastPass icon in Safari.
  2. Go to Account Options or select your email address and select Advanced > Clear Local Cache.
LastPass Password Manager Mac App
  1. While logged in to LastPass, click the LastPass Password Manager Mac App to bring it to the front.
  2. In the Apple Menu bar, go to LastPass > Clear Cache.

  1. While logged in to the app, tap Settings in the bottom toolbar.
  2. Tap Actions > Clear LastPass Cache.

What to do next: Log out of LastPass, then log back in to recreate the local cache for LastPass.
Important: If you are using the LastPass web browser extension or Safari app extension, be sure to log out and log back in to the extension to recreate the Recovery One Time Password, which is used in the account recovery process for restoring access to your Vault if you forget your Master Password.
