How do I change at-risk passwords in my LastPass Vault?

If you checked your Security Dashboard and it indicated that some of your site passwords are considered unsafe (i.e., weak, reused, old, or missing), you can easily change them within the affected site and within your LastPass Vault.

Changing weak, old, or reused passwords

  1. Log in to LastPass and access your Vault by doing either of the following:
    • In your web browser toolbar, click the LastPass icon then click Open My Vault.

    • Go to https://lastpass.com/?ac=1 and log in with your username and Master Password.

  2. Select Security Dashboard in the left navigation.
  3. In the Security Score pane, click View passwords.
  4. On the Password Security page, all at-risk passwords are displayed. If desired, you can use the "Filter by" option in the upper-right to display only weak, reused, old, or missing passwords.
  5. In the "Actions to Take" column in the right navigation, click Change password.
  6. You are redirected to the site for your stored password.
  7. From here, you can either log in to the site and change the password within your account settings, or use the Forgot Password recovery flow to change your password.
  8. Once your password has changed, you will be prompted by LastPass to click Update to change the password in your LastPass Vault.
  9. Return to your LastPass Vault.
Your password has been updated on both the site and within your Vault, and will no longer be displayed on the Password Security page as it now considered safe.

Adding a missing password

  5. In the "Actions to Take" column in the right navigation, click Add password.
  6. On the Edit Password screen, enter a password in the "Site password" field.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Return to your LastPass Vault.
A new password has been added to the site password entry within your Vault, and is no longer considered unsafe.
