Manage Trusted Devices for Multifactor Authentication

Multifactor Authentication is a security feature that can be enabled for protection against unauthorized access to your account. If you're using a personal device that is only used by you, and you follow general security best practices (e.g., run anti-virus service, avoid accessing suspicious links, etc.), you can choose to "trust" your device, which skips the Multifactor Authentication prompt for 30 days. You can also revoke trust for a device so you are prompted for Multifactor Authentication again.

Trust a device (skip being prompted for Multifactor Authentication)

To skip Multifactor Authentication from a specific device for 30 days but still be prompted on other devices, do the following:

  1. Using the device for which you want to skip Multifactor Authentication prompts, log in to LastPass.
  2. When prompted by Multifactor Authentication, check the box to enable the Trust this <device> for 30 days option.

Note: If you are not prompted with this option, it means either you have not enabled Multifactor Authentication, or you have already set this device as trusted.

Revoke trust for a device (be prompted for Multifactor Authentication)

If you set up Multifactor Authentication on your account and trusted a device but now need to revoke that trust and be prompted again to authenticate using a multifactor authenticator, do the following:

  1. Log in to LastPass and access your Vault by doing either of the following:
    • Go to https://lastpass.com/?ac=1 and log in with your username and Master Password.
    • In your web browser toolbar, click the LastPass icon LastPass then click Open My Vault.
  2. Select Account Settings in the left navigation.
  3. Click the Trust Devices tab.
  4. In the "Label" column, locate your device (the default auto-generated name will be alphanumeric, unless you re-named it), then uncheck the box for "Enabled". When finished, close the Account Settings window.
