What happens to my landline when I port my number to Grasshopper?

When a number is ported to Grasshopper, you are moving your number to a new carrier. This means that the phone number will be moved away from the physical phone/device you once used it with.

If the number was connected to a land line, you will no longer have a “dial tone” or hard land line connected to the number.

Once the number is moved to Grasshopper, it becomes a virtual number. You will have the ability to forward calls to other phone numbers such as your cell phone, home office, etc.

If you require the ability to answer calls in an office environment without the use of cell phones or landlines, you may be interested in using our desktop application. For more information please click HERE .
