Why am I getting Error 12029 when trying to launch via GoToOpener?

Cause

Resolution

To determine the cause, first rule out the program:

  1. Go to Control Panel >> Programs & Features
  2. Uninstall the product (GoToMeeting, GoToAssist Remote Support, etc) and GoToOpener 
  3. If Citrix Online Launcher is listed, remove this as well 
  4. Reboot the PC 
  5. Attempt to join or start the session with the chosen product again
  6. If error persists, continue below

Reset Browser
  1. Go to Control Panel >> Internet Options 
  2. Click on Advanced tab
  3. Click on Reset 
  4. Restart the browser
  5. If error persists, continue below
Disable Anti-Virus (if possible)
  1. Not all customers will have this ability if they are in a work environment
  2. If connection works with AV disabled, you can direct them to configure their AV appropriately
  3. If disabling AV does not help, refer to the link below for Optimal Configuration
Review the Optimal Firewall Configuration to be sure that the DNS addresses, IP ranges, and ports have been allowed via the company security profiles.
