Why am I being told that I can't join or start because I am already in a session when I'm not?

Issue

When starting or joining a meeting an error pops up "There is already a session running".

  • GoToMeeting
  • GoToWebinar 
  • GoToTraining
  • Windows

Procedure

Answer

Cause

You may have a previous meeting that did not end cleanly stuck in the processes

Resolution

To terminate the stuck process

  1. Right click on task bar
  2. Click Start Task Manager
  3. Click the Processes tab
  4. End any processes that begin with g2m
  5. Attempt to relaunch your session
Alternatively, rebooting your computer completely should also resolve this issue.

Additional Information

It is recommended that you uninstall and reinstall the GoTo Opener in addition to GoToMeeting to permanently resolve this issue.
