How to manually install the GoTo Opener (Windows)

Objective

GoToMeeting, GoToWebinar, GoToTraining, GoToMyPC and GoToAssist all use a "helper" application to launch you into active sessions. When you install your GoTo product's software, this app is one of the components that is automatically included in the download package and is used to launch you into active sessions. Normally, this application is installed automatically when you join or start sessions using your GoTo products. However, if the app taking a long time to download through the normal flow (or if you are encountering download/join issues), you can try installing it manually instead. 

Note that the newest version of this "helper" application is named the "GoTo Opener" app, but it previously was known under another name. Learn more. 

Environment

Procedure

  1. Download the GoToOpener.msi (Windows).
  2. Open the file and run it. Note that there will be no "confirmation" screen, as the Opener is not intended to be installed "standalone", but can be used as such as a fix for installation issues. 
  3. Try joining or starting your session again. 

Need to install for multiple users?

If you are an IT Admin who uses .MSI files to manually distribute our GoTo product software to multiple Windows computers at once, you can use the mutli-user GoToOpener.msi to manually distribute the app as well.
