Test your Mic and Speakers (VoIP)

You can test your microphone and speakers at any time to ensure that you can use them to connect to audio using VoIP.

Before the session

1. Ensure that Computer audio is selected. If needed, you can click Choose and audio optionat the top-left to go back. If you wish to dial in using your telephone, see Connect to Audio using your Telephone.

2. In the Computer Audio section, you will see separate icons for your microphone and speakers . Next to each one is a volume meter that shows you whether your microphone is picking up sound and your speakers are emitting audio.

  • Test your microphone by speaking into it. If the volume meter next to the Mic icon does not show any green bars, then it is not properly picking up sound.
    • Use the drop-down menu to select a different microphone.
    • If you do not see the microphone device that you are trying to use, then try unplugging it and then plugging it back in.
  • Test your speakers by listening for audio. If the volume meter next to the Speakers icon does not show any green bars, then it is not properly emitting any sound.
    • Use the drop-down menu to select a different microphone.
    • If you do not see the speaker device that you are trying to use, then try unplugging it and then plugging it back in.
    • If you see green bars but do not hear any noise, try turning up the volume of your speakers.

During the session

1. Expand the Audio tab (near the top of the Control Panel).

2. Ensure that Computer audio is selected. If you wish to dial in using your telephone, see Connect to Audio using your Telephone.

Test from the Web App

Before a session

1. When prompted, select Use computer audio. If you wish to dial in using your telephone, see Connect to Audio using your Telephone.

2. On the Computer audio screen, you will see separate icons for your microphone and speakers .

  • Test your microphone by speaking into it. If the volume meter next to the Mic icon does not show any green bars, then it is not properly picking up sound.
    • Use the drop-down menu to select a different microphone.
    • If you do not see the microphone that you are trying to use, then try unplugging it and then plugging it back in.
  • Test your speakers by clicking Test your sound next to the Speakers icon . If you do not hear the example audio clip, see Why can't I hear anyone?.

During the session

1. Click the Settings icon in the toolbar.

2. On the Audio tab, ensure that Computer audio is selected. If you wish to dial in using your telephone, see Connect to Audio using your Telephone.

3. In the Computer Audio section, you will see separate icons for your microphone and speakers .

  • Test your microphone by speaking into it. If the volume meter next to the Mic icon does not show any green bars, then it is not properly picking up sound.
    • Use the drop-down menu to select a different microphone.
    • If you do not see the microphone that you are trying to use, then try unplugging it and then plugging it back in.
  • Test your speakers by clicking Test your sound next to the Speakers icon . If you do not hear the example audio clip, see Why can't I hear anyone?.
