How do I move or reassign a Pro seat?

    This article takes you through the process of assigning a Pro "seat" to a computer in your account, thus enabling that computer for remote access.

    We'll look at two common scenarios when you may need to move a seat:

    Scenario 1. Moving a seat from a computer you no longer need

    Let's assume you have purchased a Pro subscription that allows access to up to five computers. Let's say one of your Pro "seats" was automatically assigned to a computer that you no longer need to access. You need to make that seat available (Task one, below) and assign it to a different PC or Mac (Task two, below).

    Task One: Make a seat available by deleting a computer from your account

    1. Go to www.logmein.com.
    2. Log in to your account using your GoTo ID (email address) and password. The Computers page is displayed.
    3. Find the computer you no longer want to access and click Properties > General Settings.
    4. Click Delete this computer.

    Following the above example, you now have four seats assigned out of five available seats. To put it another way, you can access four of your computers and you have one available seat waiting to be assigned.

    Task Two: Enable the available seat on the correct computer

    1. While still logged in to your account, go to the Computers page.
    2. Find the computer that will use the available seat.
    3. Click the Enable link for that computer.

    The available seat is assigned to the computer. The computer is enabled for remote access. Following the above example, all five seats are now assigned. You can access all five computers in your account.

    Scenario 2. Reassigning a seat to the same computer after operating system upgrade

    Let's say you update your computer's operating system (for example, from Windows 7 to Windows 8 or from OS X Lion to Mountain Lion). Even though it is the same computer, you still need to delete the previous instance of GoTo from your account (Task one, below). Then you need to reinstall GoTo and make sure the seat is assigned (Task two, below).

    Task One: Make the seat available by deleting the "old computer" from your account

    1. Go to www.logmein.com.
    2. Log in to your account using your GoTo ID (email address) and password. The Computers page is displayed.
    3. Find the "old computer" and click Properties > General Settings. (By "old computer" we mean the same computer you want to access, but with the previous operating system.)
    4. Click Delete this computer.

    Task Two: Reinstall GoTo

    1. Make sure you are sitting at the computer with the new operating system (the computer you want to access).
    2. While still logged in to your account, go to the Computers page.
    3. Click Add Computer.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install.

    The available seat is assigned to the computer. The computer is enabled for remote access.
